In Conversation With... Darren McGarvey

Author, musician and social commentator. A forceful activist for social justice, his first book, Poverty Safari: Understanding the Anger of Britain's Underclass, was a 2018 Orwell Prize winner. His new book, The Social Distance Between Us, was published in May 2022. His musical alter-ego Loki The Scottish Rapper is one of Scottish hip hop's most influential artists. Darren is a regular contributor to various publications including The Independent and The Guardian, and is a TV and radio mainstay on the likes of Question Time and Start the Week.
